Kenneth N. Shirk, EA – Founder &
As founder and President of
TagsAndTax LLC, Ken is the driving force
behind the growth and success of the firm. A graduate of Millersville
Univesity, he is listed in several Who’s Who
publications for his expertise in clergy tax matters. Ken is an Enrolled
Agent, licensed by the Treasury Department to represent clients before the
IRS and also serves as the Executive Director of Son-Set Ministry Inc., a
not-for-profit educational organization that provides tax-related
information to ministries and ministers. Churches frequently use Ken as a
consultant in matters related to taxes,
and compliance with regulations.
Active in the community and his church, Ken
is a member of Gideons International,
and a former school director. He and his wife Susie,
have been married 38 years and have four sons. He and his wife Susie, have been married since 1970 and have four married sons. In his spare time, Ken enjoys flying kites, reading and working with Susie on home decorating and home improvement projects. After tax season is over they look forward to riding their tandem recumbent bicycle on roads and trails all over the northeastern USA. Aaron Shirk, EA – Vice-President
Aaron is both an expert tax professional and
an extremely knowledgeable Notary Public. He started working in the
family business as a pre-teen and progressed to tax preparation before
graduating from high school. Few have amassed Aaron’s experience and
knowledge in taxes and licensing at such an early age. Attending tax and
notary seminars and workshops throughout each year keeps his skills sharpened.
Aaron is currently serving on the board of directors of both the PA Auto
License Brokers and the PA Society of Enrolled Agents. Aaron and his wife
Heidi are active in their church and community and have two young

Susie’s been around the business since Day
One. However, a few years ago she gave up her career as a Sonographer
to devote her full time to Sonrise. Her most
important function is coordinating the activities between the two
offices. She has primary responsibility for staffing and scheduling at
both offices. A trained tax preparer and Notary, her biggest asset to the
business is being the "glue that
holds everything together" as
April 15th approaches each Spring.
She generally works out of the Mt. Zion
office and has a wealth of knowledge regarding all aspects of the

Heverling – Tax Professional & Notary
Julie came on board in 2003 and has proven to
be a very versatile individual. She is both a Tax Professional and a
Notary Public. Her bubbly personality makes her an enjoyable person to our
Beth Kneasel – Payroll Manager
Beth is an extremely capable individual and a
take-charge type of person. She manages the payroll segment of our
business from the Mt. Zion office. She first worked for us in 2002,
starting as an office assistant and then later preparing taxes and
processing payroll. After a 5 year hiatus to devote more time to her
family we recently welcomed her return as our payroll manager.
Sue Dunbar – Administrative Assistant,
Mount Zion Office
Sue resides a few doors down from our Mt.
Zion Office and has been an
invaluable asset to us for over a decade. She doesn’t prepare taxes,
and isn’t a Notary, but there isn’t much else that she doesn’t do around
the office from January thru April 15th. Anyone calling or
visiting our Mt. Zion Office
during tax season is likely to be greeted by Sue.
Joan Thomas – Administrative Assistant,
Ninth St. Office
Joan has been a part of our team since 2005.
Her smile and friendliness will welcome you and put you at ease when you
enter our Ninth St office. Joan is a skilled Notary and also manages the
Ninth St office.
Sharon Arnold – Tax Preparer
Sharon came on board in 2007 after
completing her income tax course at the top of her class. Sharon
has a strong background in agricultural issues. Her friendliness
with clients, her good judgment and her strong work ethic make her a
tremendous asset to our Mt Zion tax team.
Cheryl Major – Notary Public
Cheryl joined the Sonrise family in 2010 as a
receptionist at the Ninth St. tax office. She quickly became known
for her friendly greetings and entertaining manner. Recognizing her
assets and contribution to the office, she was commissioned as a
Notary Public after tax season and added to the permanent staff. She
strives to make every customer feel special as she exudes a zany and
